Why Do Republicans Make It Impossible to Govern?

Solving problems using the government is the surest way for Republicans to lose elections, so they spoil it for all of us

Republicans have a serious issue when it comes to governing. I mean, if I didn’t know any better I would think they prefer an old West-style form of governance where the local sheriff is the sole representative of government.

While they, of course, will say that it is Democrats who want to establish a nanny-state that turns citizens into dependent drones incapable of thinking for themselves, I think all we need do is look at the problems so fracturing our society to better understand how off-the-mark that rhetoric is.

Republicans hate governing

When was the last time Republicans, and I am not talking about the off-the-rails MAGA types, passed a significant piece of legislation that wasn’t related to reducing the tax burden of America’s wealthiest or undoing popular laws from the past? When was the last time they supported any government action that wasn’t being manipulated to stomp on the rights of minorities or LGBTQ Americans?
