Wagner Founder Offered Russian Troop Positions to Ukrainians
If this is true, Prigozhin’s body doubles better be out in force
As bad as it sounds, it does seem to symbolize more about Prigozhin’s hatred for Sergey Shoigu than a betrayal of his boss, Putin, and Russia. It was reported the other day by The Washington Post that in leaks of transmissions between the Wagner chief and Ukraine’s military intelligence directorate, Prigozhin promised to give information on the whereabouts of Russian troop positions.
Prigozhin said that if Ukraine’s commanders withdrew their soldiers from the area around Bakhmut, he would give Kyiv information on Russian troop positions, which Ukraine could use to attack them. Prigozhin conveyed the proposal to his contacts in Ukraine’s military intelligence directorate, with whom he has maintained secret communications during the war, according to previously unreported U.S. intelligence documents leaked on the group-chat platform Discord (Offered to Give Russian Troop Locations).
The level of toxicity in Moscow since Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine is dangerously high.
