Time to ‘Wake’ MAGA to the Failure of Right-Wingism

MTG’s call for breaking the US up would make red-state inhabitants about as happy as rural Russians

Marjorie Taylor Greene is all about a national divorce these days because she wants to “save red America from woke.” The rapid and guaranteed failure of the red states without the blue states would be a rude “awakening” to the MAGA-its. It would give a whole new meaning to the term “woke.”

First of all, is such a divorce possible, and will we regret it after it takes place? Anyone who has ever gone through a divorce knows that there are moments when you look back on the whole big mess that was the marriage and you think, “I probably could have acted differently that time.”

Thinking about a national divorce, part of me fears that I might miss the red states a little. There is so much to be said about the culture of the south — not that this is the only place where red states exist. Nonetheless, I love their food culture. Take hog roasts, for instance, I have never been to one in a southern state but I am sure it would be a shit-kicking good time.
