There is Poison Running Through Us
The tragedy that has become our every day is truly unspeakable but for reasons most of us don’t want to admit
It’s time for the weekly round-up. Bear with me, please.
As I woke up yesterday, I asked myself: How many today? How many Americans will be killed doing things that people in civilized, and uncivilized, countries do every day? I imagined the American sleeping at that moment fully aware that on this day he would shatter the lives of his fellow citizens when he appeared out of nowhere and began shooting. Odds say that he will be white, between 18 and 35, and using an AR-15.
I asked myself: Would it be at a community farmer’s market? Would it be at a fair, a baseball game, a church event, a picnic in a park, a restaurant, or some mall? Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be a mall. Was I getting good at foreseeing the future or has the future just become so predictable? It seems to me the latter.
Originally unique to America, the idea of the mall was to create a one-stop shopping experience for all of the Americans who had resettled to the suburbs.
