The World’s ‘Elite’ Meet in Davos Next Week to…(Improve Resumes)?

The meetings in the mountain valley in the Canton of Grisons are guaranteed to enrich a lot of local Swiss folks and many others

Many attendees descending upon Davos’s sleepy, snowy village were just at the annual COP meeting in the United Arab Emirates. Traveling again from all over the world, the crisscrossing contrails will scuff up the skies like a herd of slow-moving slugs after a summer’s rainstorm.

Feeling as if they accomplished “good things” at COP28, despite that the president of COP this year was the CEO of a state-run oil company, the well-paid talkers and networkers will struggle with through varying degrees of jet lag while balancing themselves so as not to slip on the early evening ice cover — snow melts by day and then refreezes around 6 or 7 p.m. leading to vicious spills.

The “change-makers” will filter into exclusive parties along the famous promenade, the “village’s” main street where shops, that had until just last week been cafes, local boutiques, and even a plumbing supply store, magically become the landing spots for the biggest companies, banks, and countries trying to prove that they are “getting better” hold talks, breakfasts, and cocktail parties.
