The Ultimate Medium Update
An article was boosted, and then it was magically removed from ‘behind-the-paywall!’
Those who follow me may know about my attempts to nudge Medium management to show love for the platform’s writers. In fits of earning-less rage, I have complained that I am “outta here.” I even made a Substack newsletter. I find Substack a tricky beast to tame, so Medium remains the go-to. Medium management knows this, so they tweak things verbally from time to time, but the love always remains long-distance.
I am here again to share an experience that was both super-mega-ippsyalliadocious (I just sounded out the spelling for this) positive, but it also left me at a loss for words about how and why.
The image above is the lone answer I got from the Medium support team. It came nearly 36 hours after I wrote to them to ask why my earnings weren’t increasing. When I responded to Judith, who wrote me this unhelpful response, she vanished before answering my follow-up questions. There is no way to reach out to the other managers to request some sort of resolution, so I come here not to bash Medium or anyone but to shine a light on a problem Coach Tony (Tony Stubblebine) seems oblivious to.
