Ukrainian Children Are Being Stolen and Made to Become Russian
Since the beginning of Russia’s war against Ukraine, Ukrainians finding themselves on the front have systematically been sent against their will to Russia — back into the nothingness of Siberia.
Now it is learned that hundreds of children so far have been removed and placed with Russian families.
As one woman in Siberia summed up it in a language that would make Vladimir Putin smile widely:
“Our family is like a small Russia,” Ms. Druzhinina said in an interview. “Russia took in four territories, and the Druzhinin family took in four children.” She said she was awaiting a fifth child and considered the children fully Russian. “We are not taking what is not ours,” she said (Russia Turns Children into Spoils of War).
What kind of person can rationalize the upheaval of children from their home country in such an inhumane manner? This woman, I am sad to say, represents a callousness that Russians often feel for anyone in trouble. They don’t necessarily feel sorrow or pity for the person in need, rather they are superior. It’s almost like the person in trouble is weaker, lesser than them.
