The Real MAGA: Make Argentina Great Again!

Scott Bessent bails out his billionaire buddies in Argentina, and the invites to cocktail parties surge again.

A $20 billion lifeline was tossed to the flailing Argentinian economy. If you ever saw the video of the drunk young man who hurled himself into the shark-infested waters off the Bahamas one night, you might recall how other high school grads were tossing him life preservers and other floatable devices to help him. Within minutes, he was dragged away, bloodied, bby a swarm of sharks. This is pretty much the same situation concerning the money that the Trump administration inexplicably gave to Argentina this past week. It won’t make any difference at all, and the markets have already reflected how too-little-and-too-late this aid is.

But! We must never forget that in this freshman year of American authoritarianism when the “we” of the “people” has been whited out and the “they” now prevails. Everything the Trump administration does, or doesn’t do, is designed not to benefit America, but benefit and ever-shrinking club of wealthy, and criminal traitors. Just take SCOTUS as an example, they are once again deliberating over whether to completely end the Voting Rights protections which would guarantee that Black and minority representation will be at its lowest in over…
