It’s an amazing sentence when you think about it. “The facts didn’t make any sense.”

Okay, sometimes it’s hard to believe something. Sometimes, when someone tells you a truth, it seems so unbelievable that you emit an astounded “Get out of here, really?”

This happens to all of us quite often but after a few moments of readjusting the context within which the startling information, say, took place most people accept the facts — whether they agree with them or not.

For example:

When I went to bed, the Yankees were winning by 7 runs with one inning left to play. When I woke up, they had lost by 3 runs and the game didn’t even go into extra innings.

This was a crazy end to a game that seemed like a sure win, right? No matter how astonished I may have been, I was forced to deal with it. There is no spinning this.

When I went to bed, the world was waiting for the first woman president to be elected in the U.S. When I awoke at 5 AM — I was in St. Petersburg, Russia — the world was preparing for the victory of Donald Trump.

The past holds the answers to today’s problems. “Be curious, not judgmental,” at least until you have all the facts. Think and stop watching cable news.
