The Banana Republic the Republicans Are Harvesting
The legal search and seizure at Mar-a-Lago was looking for more than just the remote to the White House TV
Had the F.B.I. conducted it’s legal search and seizure of the Mar-a-Lago residence because they were looking for the remote control, I would agree with the hysterical, right-wing hyenas declaring this their very own little Fort Sumter-moment.
But the F.B.I. was looking for more, a lot more. In particular, they were looking for secret documents that are classified so high that only a president and a few other advisors can see them.
Federal agents removed about a dozen boxes of materials from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate and issued a warrant indicating the search pertained to possible violations surrounding classified information and the Presidential Records Act, a Trump lawyer confirmed to POLITICO on Tuesday (Federal Agents Took a Dozen Boxes).
The 12 boxes of documents were of the type where if our enemies got hold of them, the setback to our national security would be realized only years if not decades later.
Trump was notoriously untidy when it came to controlling top secret information as was highlighted by one example early in his first year.
