Speaking at a forum in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region the other day, Dmitry Peskov told the youthful attendees that he’s sick of the West criticizing Russia’s democracy. The college students broke out into loud applause.

“We will no longer tolerate criticism of our democracy and claims that it is not the kind that it should be,” Peskov said during a talk at the World Youth Festival in southern Russia’s Krasnodar region.

“Our democracy is the best and we will continue to build it,” he added (Russia Has Best Democracy).

Peskov said with a straight face despite the recent death of Aleksey Navalny, whose only crime was that he disagreed with the politics of the Kremlin. Navalny wasn’t calling for armed revolution or terrorist attacks. He was trying to do what is common in real democracies: He was attempting to run for political office to oppose the current president. The same one who regularly kills anyone opposed to him and changes the constitution to fit his whims.

The past holds the answers to today’s problems. “Be curious, not judgmental,” at least until you have all the facts. Think and stop watching cable news.
