Battlefield deaths absolve sins as Russia inches toward a cult of death

Corrupt, liberated from empathy, and incapable of understanding the teachings of Jesus, the average clergyman in Russia is little more than a snake oil salesman — or a Kool-Aid peddler.

Patriarch Kirill I, doing the bidding of the criminally insane Vladimir Putin, has officially declared that death in war “washes away the sins” because the victim has “sacrificed” himself for the good of Russia.

First of all, Kirill is one of the most corrupt religious men alive. While many religious leaders, except Pope Francis who has spent much of his life fighting the excesses of the church, are corrupt and vile; few are as evil and disgusting as Kirill. He survived the Soviet times intact which means that he was regularly informing on his fellow countrymen.

In return for autonomy, the Soviet authorities demanded that Russian Orthodox priests regularly hand over believers. Religion was outlawed during Soviet times. The believers were imprisoned and made outcasts.

Under Stalin, thousands of churches were either destroyed or turned into grain storage, swimming pools, “palaces of Soviet culture,” and more. After the Soviet…
