Ignorance is strength and war is peace

It was open mic night at the Valdai International Discussion Club. And, never failing to disappoint a packed hall of bobble-headed Russian sycophants, Vladimir Putin took the stage and launched into a stand-up routine that will become the comedy standard for decades going forward.

At a resort somewhere between Moscow and St. Petersburg, Putin, like a good hedgehog of habit, feels especially at home in this annual forest setting. Trapped in the highly-patrolled area, Russia’s most vile and complicit in their country’s implosion to fascism, sit like obedient children hanging on the puppet master’s every word.

Feeling relaxed, legs not noticeably shaking and hands not contorting from unsightly spasms, the aging tyrant laid out a brilliantly funny narrative that should have had the gathered crowd rolling in the aisles. Instead, they dutifully clapped all the while murmuring under their breath: What the f*** is he going on about? Does he think anyone is buying this nonsense?

The recap

First of all, I am taking a big chance by predicting that the VHS sales from Putin’s “Live in the Forest” stand-up will outsell Eddie Murphy’s “Raw” show.

The past holds the answers to today’s problems. “Be curious, not judgmental,” at least until you have all the facts. Think and stop watching cable news.
