One Week and Twice Russian Lawmakers Call for Putin’s Removal

The voices begin to rise in protest but we still will have to wait for them to become a shout

No, it is not an avalanche, more just like some snow dropping off of the roof.

Noticeably, the snow falls to the sidewalk causing passersby to look up and walk a bit further out from the side of the building so as not to be hit by the descending melting mix the next time.

This is how we can regard the two very public calls in Russia for the removal of Putin coming from elected officials first in St. Petersburg and then later in Moscow.

These people who bravely, many Russians probably would say foolishly, made these demands are not the anti-war protesters we saw back in March and April. These are actually lawmakers.

A group of seven lawmakers from St. Petersburg, Russia’s second-largest city and former capital during czarist times, on September 7th issued a call to the Federal Duma to relieve President Putin of his authority.

The letter also said that the invasion led to the deaths of Russian soldiers, damaged the economy and economic conditions for the country’s citizens, brought about NATO’s expansion to Sweden and Finland, and militarized Ukraine through the…
