Moscow’s Offensive Has Commenced

Probing Ukraine’s line across the entire front, Russia is hastening an assault before Western aid arrives

It is said you should never watch the water when trying to boil it. This is what it has been like waiting for the latest promised Western military aid to arrive.

First, doubt was expressed about whether it was prudent to do so, and then when they saw Russia making some small advances, the heating water shifted gears, and bubbles started to rise from the bottom of the pot singly and we waited.

Anticipation builds but the bubbles don’t because we are watching and still waiting. That is what all of us, the anti-Russia forces of good, are doing now: we are watching as Russia sends wave after wave of its citizens against handfuls of brave Ukrainian defenders. As wave after wave ends up face down, fertilizing the famously rich soil called “chernozem,” Ukrainians through proximity to the front also lose bodies and weapons.

Russia’s tactic, which at first seemed just like typical Russian chaotic madness, is actually the strategy now setting the pace for this war of attrition.

Moscow has massed hundreds of thousands of troops in Ukraine and is targeting dozens of places a day in a markedly stepped-up barrage of artillery…
