Mike Johnson Seems Ready to ‘Try’ to Pass Funding for Ukraine
Mike Johnson’s recent visit to the Southern Kremlin in Mar-a-Lago, where he was blessed by the sad, creamsicle-y man, has set the stage for a crucial political battle. Backed by Trump’s support, Johnson is now preparing to advocate for Ukraine and Israel. However, the Freedom Caucus, despite Trump’s endorsement, remains a formidable obstacle, adamantly opposing any aid to Ukraine, seemingly to avoid upsetting Putin.
The mood changed for Johnson after he visited with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky just before Easter. Ever since then, he has been struggling to find a way to badly-needed ammunition to Kyiv. Russia has been making small but steady progress since Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and the other traitors in Congress made it their life’s work to return Ukraine to the groping arms of Vladimir Putin.
Mr. Johnson’s announcement, coming after he has agonized for weeks over whether and how to advance an infusion of critical aid to Ukraine amid stiff Republican resistance, was the first concrete indication that he had settled on a path forward. It came days after Iran launched a large aerial attack on Israel, amplifying calls for Congress to move quickly to approve the pending aid bill.
