Hours after Mitch agrees to boost semiconductor industry, Manchin and Schumer announce a surprise

The ink on the semiconductor bill informally called the Chips and Science bill still had that funky-fresh ink smell to it when phones in Congress started chirping. Across screens appeared the words, “Manchin agrees with Dems to…”

Mitch “Moscow” McConnell, known by some as “Turtle,” had been “McConnelled” by Chuck Schumer.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell bashed a nascent agreement between Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Democratic leaders that revived swaths of their agenda on Wednesday.

“Democrats have already crushed American families with historic inflation,” the Kentucky Republican wrote on Twitter. “Now they want to pile on giant tax hikes that will hammer workers and kill many thousands of American jobs (McConnell Assails Manchin’s Surprise).”

Golly, as positively excited as I am at the possibility that Democrats could be pulling a multi-hit day, I am also a little scared. Mitch was played masterfully and it reminds me of some of his very own more devious and obstructive moves of the past decade or so.
