Maybe We Need to Start Praising the Mass Shooters

Let’s celebrate these misfits on the altar of American exceptionalism

Another mass shooting and more innocent Americans have been removed from this life. The people killed today were just like all of us alive right now — they were reacting with shock and disgust about the other “latest” mass shooting that occurred two days ago — really close to them.

Let all of us now be shocked, angry, and disgusted — ready to go. That felt good, right?

Now, we can go about our day like nothing happened because really, nothing did. Mass shootings are no longer “things” that happen but just communities scratching itches. I no longer know how to deal with these tragedies. Do I blame the residents of Half Moon Bay for not being more aware of the distress that this person, someone they knew, was experiencing?

Do we blame the residents of Torrance? Of Highland Park, Illinois for the slaughter undertaken on July 4th? Why did the shooter have access to that roof? Who was supposed to make sure no one gets up there? Come on! Americans have the right to be armed, which supersedes all other rights in our country.

If one of these patriots is having a bad day and sees breakdowns in the security of a given community, and then points them out…

The past holds the answers to today’s problems. “Be curious, not judgmental,” at least until you have all the facts. Think and stop watching cable news.
