Is there anybody out there? Let me rephrase that:
Hey, Medium algorithm, ‘Distributer Team’, are you guys still involved with this project? Or, were you too let go a few months back when Medium was having its latest existential crisis?
Here’s the problem. We used to be pretty good friends, me and the Al, short for algorithm. As someone who churns out at least one article a day, I can tell that you beginning sometime around February or March, at least 30% of my articles were being “chosen for further distribution.” There were some weeks even when I would get seven chosen. That good fortune helped me to grow my following and to earn a bit of extra cash. Something that always helps when you have a 4-year-old.
The trends were great as each month was better than the one before in terms of readership and earnings. Medium itself was rewarding me with its short-lived “thank you” checks each month-which ended in July. I now wonder if that was a buy-off? Here, take this bonuses for writing because soon, we plan on exiling you.
