Is the End for Russia Near in Ukraine?
Troops are hastily retreating in the East, what is Putin’s next move?
Everyone these days, even the little piggies, in eastern villages and towns of Russian-occupied Ukraine have been waking lately to the sound of Russian troops marching.
The troops are marching not westward, though, but rather eastward, back in the direction of Russia.
The Ukrainian offensive which has been unfolding over the past week is slowly meeting with success despite heavy losses.
“Izium was liberated today,” the city’s mayor, Valeriy Marchenko, said in an interview. While he was not yet in the city himself, he said that he was in contact with the police and that emergency services were working to clear it of possible hazards before residents could return (Ukrainian Forces Take Key City).
Located about halfway between Kharkiv and Donetsk, Izium was a logistic hub feeding Russia’s offensives for both the south and east. Abandoned, the loss of the city six months into the war is on par with Russia’s failed offensive to take Kyiv.
The retreat, reported in Russia as a strategic withdrawal to give frontline troops time for rest and rearmament, comes just days after the newly-energized Putin announced to the world at the Eastern Economic…
