Is Crypto Dead?

The main problem with cryptocurrencies is the image you see here. This is supposed to represent a “bitcoin” but as you may know, there is no tangible representation of the coin. It is a digital currency that exists free of the control of any one person or central body. It is a nightmare for the world in my not-so-humble opinion.

A lot more language gymnastics are deployed in explaining the idea of the unseen currency and how it was supposedly a super-duper creation that would revolutionize this-and-that but as someone who has spent a good deal in the space, I can tell you that what it really boils down to is a weak, not-so-nutritional bowl of crap. Bitcoin is the epitome of solipsism — bitcoin exists for the sake of itself and its owners offering nothing beneficial to society.

Bitcoin sucks

The process of creating more Bitcoins, known as “mining,” is a very complicated one and there is no reason to get into here — Google it. It’s a very boring read, indeed. Nonetheless, that process is one of the most energy-intensive acts on the planet Earth. To mine one single bitcoin, 1,449 kilowatt hours are used which is the equivalent of the amount of energy a single U.S. uses over 13 years.
