I stand by this, Chris, time, while it may be a great healer of wounds, is not Russia's ally. The longer this war can be "paused," and the more Ukraine refortified--and this is a very complex word because even I don't fully know what actions need to be taken to achieve this goal--the worse off Russia is. When Putin dies, the transition will not be anything violently revolutionary, but it will be typical for the weak-willed cowards in Russia. They will cry, let out a huge sigh of relief, and then the "de-Putinization" will begin after a few years of wild West-like mafia activities and violence. Russians will sooner or later come to terms with the fact that Putin was not good. In the meantime, we need to hold our position keep them boxed out, and let them pay for this latest dive into fascism--all of this is my humble reading of Russia.
