HI Steve, I lived in St. Petersburg about a mile from the Piskarevskoye Cemetary. The official number there was well over a million but no one knew the real amount. The Siege lasted 900 days and was broken on January 27th--the day my son would be born many years later ) I used to go up there on the bitterly cold nights on the 27th, long after the buses of officials had left and drink a toast to the dead souls.
