Have Lukashenko and Prigozhin Formed an Alliance Against Putin?

Recently seen as Putin’s puppet, the Belarus dictator has shown again why he has been in power since 1994

A few weeks ago I wrote about how Alexander Lukashenko was on his deathbed. Having traveled to Moscow to meet with his protector, he was last heard from being admitted to a Moscow hospital. A local doctor said he was in critical but stable condition.

Next, we see him briefly moving slowly from a car in Belarus and in a raspy voice saying something really macho. And then it happened. To our collective delight and surprise, Evgeny Prigozhin threatened to accelerate the end of the Putin era in Moscow with a coup. The dying Lukashenko got lost in the headlines for only the blink of an eye because once again, and like a real cat that just refuses to die, he floated up from the bottom and not just survived but actually seems in some ways more powerful than his former Moscow puppetmaster.

The coup was strangely halted and Prigozhin together with his army set off for Belarus to bask in the promised protection. Have Lukashenko and Prigozhin formed an alliance that both offsets Putin’s power as a master behind-the-scenes murderous manipulator?
