Democrats Are Again Failing at Finding a Message That Works
This image is still the one most Americans perceive to be the face of the modern-day Democratic Party. Before you react — overreact — hear me out.
Cross-dresser or transgender, we can’t tell from this picture, but according to poll after poll, most Americans really don’t care. They aren’t necessarily against the rights of transgender Americans, but they don’t think it is one of the most pressing problems the country faces today. They don’t even think it’s in the top 10 of the most serious concerns for modern society. According to USAfacts.org, 1.14 (3 million) percent of Americans identify as transgender.
That’s not a lot of people when you get right down to the heart of the matter, and yet, somehow, the plight of transgender Americans has become synonymous for millions with the Democratic Party. Many Americans (and this is where ultra-liberals will scoff and begin to attack me) claim that they held their nose and voted for Trump not because they like him but because they don’t think minors should be permitted to undergo gender-affirming surgery. They don’t like the idea of transgender women playing in cisgender female sports. They don’t want transgender women in the women’s bathroom.
