Seven key psychological traits distinguish the super-rich — let’s say anyone earning over $1 million a year — from the rest of us. At a closed-door meeting with Donald Trump yesterday, the CEOs of leading firms and banks in the country were regaled with promises that all of the seven traits they share would be massaged if he wins in November.

What are these traits that separate the nation’s robber barons from the rest of us? First of all, they are less likely to believe in “money avoidance,” which means money is good and there is little virtue in living with less; they feel more in control of their lives; are motivated by money; link self worth with value; less likely to sabotage financial success (meaning they are cheap); confident in investing, and more vigilant about their money (meaning they are cheap again).

Imagine the sense of privilege and entitlement in a room filled with people like JP Morgan’s Jamie Dimon, Tim Cook of Apple, and the CEOs of Walmart and Welles Fargo, Doug McMillon and Charles W. Scharf, respectively. Perched in front of them like a not-so-bright, oaf-like orangutan…
