The Way of the America
When the Yin and the Yang embrace each other, it is realized that they are not a world that can be divided into black and white. They are actually a world of black in white and white in black, forming unity.
The moral wisdom of the way of the Dao “manifests the simple, embraces the primitive, reduces selfishness, has few desires.”
When I was 15, I read a book that I think was called The Concept of Reality — but I am not sure. I haven’t seen that book since 1989 or so.
The book changed the way I perceived life around me and altered how I would live going forward. I recall going for a walk in a forest park near my house shortly after I started reading the book.
Everything was different. Looking up at the trees, I studied each one and began to appreciate their singular almost monotonous purpose. The way the leaves at random, unplanned intervals dropped to the earth, covering it in a blanket of eternity.
The beauty of that forest was something I hadn’t seen ever before until I started that book. The book mostly told the story of Daoism but it also touched upon other religions and philosophies for the sake of comparison.
