Russians Can’t Conceive Putin Might Be Lying
For the same reasons, 5-year-olds can’t conceive their parents would lie
There is one question that people pose to me almost every day since hungover Russian troops crossed the border into Ukraine on February 24th, 2022: Why do Russians believe Putin’s lies?
Finding an answer to that question has been difficult for several reasons.
First of all, I know them so well that sometimes I forget that what seems to me normal is to others a bit shocking. It has taken me a while to shed my own pro-Russian society filter.
I am still not a Russophobe but I am sickened by their moral weakness. I get sick to my stomach when I hear the standard bitching and moaning about how they are the best and that is why the world so fears them; or, how Russian culture is far superior to all other cultures. It’s all so nauseating and boorish.
But an answer came to me today as clear as a bell. It is one that I have touched upon countless times in my many articles about Russia’s moral collapse but have as of yet not given a full explanation. Here I will try.
