How cowardly conservatives have become thanks to the treason of Trump

The new hats and oversized t-shirts are on the way: MRGA. You pronounce it as “Merr-ga.” It doesn’t roll off the tongue, but we have at least four more years to get a linguistic handle on it. Yes, it is true. February 24, 2025 is the day the grand experiment started by the Founding Fathers in a sweltering Philadelphia nearly 250 years ago ended. Right-wing extremism, long-headed down this path toward cowardice and hate, has delivered this once great nation into the hands of Vladimir Putin.

How far have we fallen?

We are now allied with a country that considers genocide and the kidnapping of children normal behavior. I lived in Russia for 28 years, so I am an expert on this society. I can tell you how diseased it really is. As Russia fell lower and lower, and the masses in the country silently fell in line and sought to justify Putin’s crimes, I always thanked God in Heaven that I was an American.

Regardless of how disgusting and weak we seemed when Trump was president the first time, at least we were in the process of self-correcting with President Biden. We at least hadn’t fully lost our moral compass. Today and last week, that moral compass was tossed carelessly to the floor at the United…
